My background is in nursing, ultimately midwifery and health visiting where I was lucky enough to integrate complementary therapies. During this time I trained with the Scottish School of reflexology followed by advanced reflexology training with Anthony Porter and Chris Stormer. Chris and Anthony practise very different forms of reflexology but I incorporate both methods for the benefit of the client.
My passion and speciality is in reproductive and maternity reflexology which along with my knowledge and experience as a midwife benefits clients. I have a certificate in competency in Maternity reflexology from Suzanne Enzer as well as certificates in pre conception and assisted conception certificates from Seren Fertility. As a practising midwife, I used reflexology both antenatally, during labour and postnatally.
I then trained as a Reiki master practitioner/ teacher and have attuned many people to do Reiki for themselves. I trained in the Usui method of Reiki and have done further training with Arjava Petter and Walter Lubeck who have written many books on the subject. For myself, that was the time I noticed the biggest shift in my own self healing through giving myself Reiki treatments. My children were young when I learnt, and they benefited from this flow of gentle healing energy.
My prime motivation for working in the complementary therapy field was to empower others to help themselves. This is when I discovered Bach Flower remedies and trained as a registered practitioner with the Bach Centre near Oxford. During my work as midwife and health visitor, I used the Bach flower remedies for antenatal, postnatal and children at pre, primary and secondary school. Organised by guidance teachers, I made remedies for teenagers before their exams within the school setting. I am keen to teach the benefits of using Bach Flower Remedies to everyone, empowering people to help themselves.
Infant massage instructor training was undertaken with the International Association of Infant Massage. I am keen to teach fathers as well as mothers to learn to massage their babies. Often dads feel left out in the first few weeks after a baby is born. Giving massage can help dads to feel more involved.
Recently I have discovered the benefits of aloe vera gel and sell products made with aloe vera personally or online. I am keen to support others to join this amazing business opportunity.
I am insured with Holistic Insurance Services. I am also a member of the Association of Reflexologists, registered as a Bach Flower remedy Practitioner with the Bach Centre, and member of the International Association of Infant Massage.
Continual professional development is expected from all these bodies. I work from Nourish in Church Street, Inverness and Green Oak Clinic within the British Legion in Dingwall. Infant massage classes are held in Green Oak Clinic.
