Reiki means “universal life force”. It is a safe, holistic therapy which takes the form of a gentle nurturing energy that radiates from the Reiki practitioner`s hands.
The client remains fully clothed and the practitioner`s hands are placed on or near the body and moved to a new position every few minutes. Reiki is not a form of massage though it can be incorporated with reflexology or massage treatment. Most clients experience a gentle warmth or tingling or nothing at all. Benefits reported by clients include deep relaxation promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well being. Reiki`s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including the newborn, pregnant mothers, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, in any situation.
Learning Reiki for yourself as well as family and friends, involves a Reiki master/teacher attuning you to the Reiki energy.
Reiki 1 is taught over one day with a follow up 6-8 weeks later.
Reiki 2 is taught over 2 days when the person attuned can call themselves a Reiki practitioner.
Reiki 3 is divided into two: Reiki master/practitioner in which the person attuned can give treatments utilising the energy and Reiki master/teacher where the person attuned can attune and teach others.
Manuals are included for all stages of learning.
Reiki is easy to learn but sometimes the energy needs time to settle and be assimilated into the body before the next stage is reached.
